for today,,, Empty rain?

Post by dean Sun May 08, 2016 5:50 am

we had a 5 minute sprinkle that is all gone now of rain. Clouds were from the west moving in. Lightning to the south in san antonio.

went over the mountain yesterday, in process they are working on a 3 and 2 mile stretch, only had to go off road for a few hundred yards. From what I could see right at the top heading towards lapaz after where the first bends including where the rumble strips use to be, they really put down a thick layer of asphalt. Appears to be 3-4 inches in thickness where they have paved. Never saw them put down such a thick layer before.

When heading to lapaz saw a wide load, a old sail boat coming the other way. When I arrived back to LaVentana, it is planted as a fixture in front of the land where I pictured the grader next post down where they are grading the top of.

mosquito trap type A progress...   or lack of it.

amazing that the hatchlings  are so small.   I had to get a magnifying glass out to know what they were for sure.    I could see the flying pattern that backed it up.   They got through my screen barrier, luckily had a second containment of plastic bottle.    Over 30 caught so far., but this is not a position of accomplishment.

I have never seen such small mosquitoes.    they are able to fit through 1.5mm screen mesh.      I would have been able to see them on my window screen I believe if they enter homes, my fabric window screen has a mesh of 1.24mm.

so next I have to make one with smaller mesh which is much more difficult.

I was working on type B today.

8:30pm, I modified type A trap to have 1.24mm fabric screen, the baby mosys are not escaping, well about 4 so far in an hour. Thus I am able to capture the babys for one piece of the trap puzzle.

Juan Ramon's strip center is getting a facelift.    The new paint job looks great.

M's orange plumbing store  has closed and is from what I could tell as of last week completely empty.   I suspect a new business will be taking that spot in no time.

Last month was probably the best april for wind activities ever, warm and strong. windsurfers and kiters were out yesterday. I am still waking up and having to wear a jacket. So nice here this year..

I have come up with a few new ideas and ways to try to validate them for catching mosquitos. I will post details as I get my experiments going in my mosquito section. With the new mosquito disease heading north time to give it some serious effort.

burrr cold again this morning... such a nice spring here this year. maybe because the last two were so warm but I just do not remember this nice of a spring ever.

They finally started paving one section of the road they are working on.    When I returned yesterday from lapaz one side was drivable.  when I went it was not.    It is not an easy trip over the mountain with some of  the off road sections, some washboard you really have to slow down to a walk.

for today,,, Empty having talks with Alaska

Post by dean Tue Apr 05, 2016 10:32 pm

Here they are having talks with Alaska and others to bring international flights back to LaPaz. so says googletranslate. Note that this has a much greater degreeof happening because of the recent flight agreement with Mexico/USA/Canada that allows airlines to change their routes depending on the season. Not having to be locked into a same schedule all year round that I reported a few months back. IE alaska could fly into LaPaz 3-5 days a week in the winter and could cut it back to zero or 1 in the summer without getting government approval, which they could not get before..

http://www.bcsnoticias.mx/se-acerca-sectur-bcs-a-alaska-airlines-para-conectar-a-la-paz-con-destinos-internacionales/

La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS). The head of the Ministry of Tourism (Tourism Ministry) of Baja California Sur, Luis Genaro Ruiz Hernandez, reported to have held talks with various local, national and international airlines to achieve connect to La Paz with destinations both in the country and abroad, including Alaska Airlines.

"We've been in talks with Alaska Airlines , with Aerocalafia with TAR, precisely to achieve set new destinations that connect La Paz, whether internationally and nationally; greater tourism promotion, which will be done in conjunction with airlines, service providers, hoteliers here lie; and certainly training, we must be prepared as citizens and providers, in order to receive tourists from wood they deserve ".

This video was primarily done for the purpose of showing the status of the Mex 5 construction zone. As you can see, it seems that most bridges and culverts are nearly done but there are still hills to knock through and flat sections of the new road that still needs to be blazed. The video has been sped up in some sections which accounts for some jerkiness.

note this is google translate ... appears you do not want to end up in the hospital right now 90 employees sick.

facebook wrote:Más Noticias Baja California Sur

Friday, 11 March, the peace, b.c.s.
• The Hospital Juan Maria Salvatierra is in ‪#‎faseuno‬ after the influenza virus.
• Around 90 workers from the hospital are ‪#‎infected‬ and disabled by ‪#‎influenza‬.
The cases of influenza are going to the rise in b.c.s. compared with last year, because there is growth of 40 % reported the head of health services Elmer Tarazón.
Of the 34 confirmed cases 21 correspond to the virus an1n1, which has led to a greater number of deaths at the national level.
According to the authority the cases in the north of the state have been few, while the peace and the dots are the biggest rebound.
It was recently reported that inside the hospital Juan Maria Salvatierra areas of surgeries weren't working due to the high registered cases of influenza, which is why it was feared the contagion of sick patients.
‪#‎Elmer‬ Tarazon Director of health services stated:
"as soon as the hospital salvatierra are recorded 4 cases of boarding schools one of them confirmed, we are not in a critical stage in the attention in the salvatierra, always the tenciones phases couple are to meet the population in general".
According to reports in the hospital salvatierra have been reported around 90 for disabilities due to influenza virus, workers, this is derived from the contagion of the same patients.
Unofficially it is known that the health authorities have denied the disabilities to workers because they have been left with no staff.
In this regard tarazón Moreno I confirm that the hospital is in phase 1, but not in critical condition.
‪#‎Elmer‬ Tarazon Director of health services said:
" we went from zero operation from the hospital to a phase one, which is basically preventive phase by restricting the entry of the people that have nothing to do at the hospital for that persons who have influenza and be with the probability don't contaminate the rest of the People, but it's the phase one, taking into account that the critical phase is the phase 3 which is similar to what is being planned that could happen in the 2009 that never happened, by the way, we are in phase one not There's more that preventive measures, use of the staff of masks N95, the implementation of the alcohol gel of the tickets and restriction and request that the people who go to the hospital is the minimum essential that's going to a service nothing more ".
30 % of the population has not been vaccinated is to say that there are over 10 thousand people in chances of getting sick.

Los Cabos: Passenger traffic reached a new record high driven by a fully restored hotel capacity. Even though the number of seats grew by 9.5%, traffic is growing by 23.3%, resulting in a significant 9.6% improvement in the load factor for airlines.

Tijuana: The percentage growth rate for February was the highest growth rate in the last 6 years. During the month, the number of seats grew 40.5%, mainly driven by the 127 thousand seats increase by Volaris, followed by VivaAerobus with 17 thousand seats, Aeromexico with 9 thousand seats, and finally, Interjet with 2 thousand additional seats. The airport continues to position itself as a leading option for entry to Southern California, due to its competitive rates and the recent opening of the Cross-Border Xpress. The cross-border bridge registered market penetration of approximately 15.0% of Tijuana airport total passengers in February, reaching more than 63,000 users crossing the border using the bridge.

Post by dean Mon Jan 18, 2016 8:25 am

BPE wrote:Fideicomiso Changes: Don’t panic. It’s true that HSBC, Banamex, and Bancomer are no longer offering the Fideicomiso or bank trust necessary for foreigners to hold title to property in the restricted zone in Mexico (pretty much all of Baja). If your fideicomiso is with one of these banks, it appears that you are fine until you need to make a change such as selling or renewing if your 30/50 years are up. To-date, HSBC and Banamex are not transferring (seceding) the rights to existing trusts. If your fideicomiso is with one of these banks and you want to sell your property, you’ll need to cancel your trust (generally a Seller’s expense) and your Buyer will need to start a new one. Bancomer is also not offering new fideicomisos but they are still allowing you to secede (transfer) the rights to your existing trust to a new owner. This means less competition but it could also mean that the banks that are still offering trusts actually want that business and will provide better service.🙏 Things are in flux but right now Scotia, Interacciones, Banco de Bajio and Santander are all options. If you are with one of the banks getting out of the Fideicomiso business and are planning on buying or selling soon, feel free to contact me for more information. Gasoline, diesel prices to drop 3% Friday
New pricing scheme another step toward an unregulated market
39 3
Mexico News Daily | Tuesday, December 29, 2015
Gasoline prices will drop 3% on Friday as a result of the next step toward an unregulated gasoline market in Mexico when a new pricing scheme goes into effect.

Unlike 2015, when a single gasoline price was officially calculated and established at the beginning of the year, 2016 will be characterized by monthly fluctuations, following the behavior of the international market.

The Finance Secretariat (SHCP) announced that the maximum price of magna will drop 41 centavos to 13.16 pesos per liter, and premium to 13.98. The price of diesel will drop to 13.77 pesos per liter. It will be the first time in nearly seven years that fuel prices will have dropped.

Monthly prices will be set within a range of no more than 3% above or below the previous month’s price, said Revenue Undersecretary Miguel Messmacher Linartas, who explained that the idea behind the pricing scheme was to allow consumers to get used to an unregulated market.

He said new pricing scheme comes as a result of energy reforms, which call for a completely liberalized market by 2018. As part of the transition process, service stations other than Pemex franchises will be able to operate beginning Friday.

By 2017, the market will be opened to allow gasoline imports.

In the north, meanwhile, fuel prices will remain lower than the rest of the country, at up to 9.59 pesos within 20 kilometers of the border, a continuing strategy intended to dissuade Mexican drivers from crossing the border to buy their fuel in the U.S.

Despite the strategy, some of those drivers have been ticked that Texans can buy Pemex gas for seven pesos now that the state oil company has opened a station in Houston, its first outside Mexico.

The president of the Association of Mexican Gas Station Owners, Pablo González Córdova, said customers in northern Mexico, when asked if they wish magna or premium, say they want neither.

Instead, they ask for the “gringo gas” for seven pesos.

this could give us flights to LaPaz from US carriers....

Mexico-US accord lifts airline restrictions
Carriers can choose the routes and the frequency they wish

Restrictions on air transportation between Mexico and the United States were lifted today in what U.S. officials described as a “landmark agreement” which leaves airlines from both countries free to fly the routes they choose.

Transportation Secretary Gerardo Ruiz Esparza signed the new air services agreement today with U.S. Transport Secretary Anthony Foxx in Washington, D.C., after the completion of discussions that began in 2012.

They described the accord as “transcendental” because they expect it will result in improved connectivity, generating more tourism and trade, while Foxx called it a great day for civil aviation for the two countries.

More frequent flights are expected as a result, and lower fares are also possible. The pact also facilitates the establishment of alliances between airlines of each country.

Foxx and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry forecast a “significant” increase in trade and travel between the U.S. and Mexico.

“The new agreement will benefit U.S. and Mexican airlines, travelers, businesses, airports and localities by allowing increased market access for passenger and cargo airlines to fly between any city in Mexico and any city in the United States,” they said in a joint statement.

“Cargo carriers will now have expanded opportunities to provide service to new destinations that were not available under the current, more restrictive agreement.”

Expansion of the air cargo industry is anticipated because a Mexican or U.S. carrier will be able to transport freight from either country to a third.

The deal still requires approval by the Mexican Senate, but Ruiz Esparza predicted that would come early in the new year. No such ratification is required in the U.S.

While some Mexican airline executives and workers have been critical of the agreement for fear of domination by the larger American aviation industry, Aeroméxico has welcomed it.

But Mexico’s largest airline is seen as being in a favorable position for its alliance with Delta Air Lines. Its Mexican competitors have no such arrangements.

Mexico’s carriers have a fleet of 300 planes. U.S. carriers have 7,500.

for today,,, Empty This year’s best meteor shower peaks in the next few days

This year’s best meteor shower peaks in the next few days
http://www.gizmag.com/geminid-meteor-shower-2015/40872/?utm_source=Gizmag+Subscribers&utm_campaign=7eb8a77a4f-UA-2235360-4&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_65b67362bd-7eb8a77a4f-90245106

If you've never made a wish on a falling star, now's your chance to make up for lost time. The Geminid meteor shower, which is best viewed without a telescope and in clear, dark skies, should peak from 13 to 15 December with scores of meteors expected to shoot across the sky each hour.

The Geminid shower has quite a reputation for generating large numbers of "shooting stars" (meteors) that appear to emanate from a radiant point in the constellation of Gemini. The characteristic streaks and flashes of light created by meteors are the result of tiny particles of dust and debris, ranging from a millimeter to a centimeter across, that burn up as they enter the Earth's atmosphere at high speeds.

The Geminids are not like other meteor showers, though. Usually the dust particles we see as meteor showers emanate from comets. As a comet approaches the sun, it forms a distinctive tail as its "dirty ice" melts and some of the ice, dust, rocky materials and organic compounds that make up the comet appear in our skies as a meteor shower. Comets are generally believed to have formed deep in space and travel extremely long orbits around the sun.

But the Geminid meteors originate from an asteroid named 3200 Phaethon, which is a little over 3 miles (5 km) in diameter, and orbits the Sun in a close elliptical orbit once every 1.43 years. This close-orbiting object is made up of metal and rocky matter that was probably formed at around the same time as our solar system's planets.

So it looks like an asteroid and acts like an asteroid … but the mystery of 3200 Phaethon is that asteroids don't usually throw dust into space. Scientists suspect that perhaps hundreds or thousands of years ago, it may have been a comet.

The Geminid shower has only been recognized in our skies since 1862. In more recent years it has become brighter and more intense because Jupiter and Saturn's gravitational forces are drawing a denser part of the Geminid stream closer to Earth.

Compared with other showers, Geminid meteors travel slowly, at around 22 miles per second, and burn up in the atmosphere with a distinctive bright yellowish hue, which makes them easy to spot with the naked eye.

Where to look for the meteor shower

To observe the Geminid meteors, check that the sky will be clear and find a place as far as possible from light-polluted areas. Give yourself about 20 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark and look in the general direction of the two brightest stars of the Gemini constellation, named after the twins of ancient Greek and Roman mythology, Castor and Pollux.

Although the meteors often appear from their "radiant" point in the constellation, you may see meteors at any point in the sky. As the constellation moves higher overhead, the number of meteors you'll see should be much higher.

"A good meteor shower is a spectacular sight," says Prof Martin Barstow, President of the UK's Royal Astronomical Society. "If you have clear skies, there are few better and easier ways to get an impression of the dynamism of the universe we live in, and how the Earth is directly connected to events in the rest of the Solar System."
