Hotel San Sebastián in Hermosillo
http://www.hotelsansebastian.com.mx/english/A lot of my friends and neighbors in San Carlos stay at Hotel San Sebastián in Hermosillo. It is right off Hwy 15 at the south side of Hermosillo, with secure parking for your car while you are away. They provide shuttles to and from the airport, no matter how early the flight.
We just booked a room for the night before our 7 am flight (need to be at the airport at 5 am) to Guadalajara next month, as well as the night of our return. They will let us leave the car there, no problem.
Here's their site. Very nice hotel with all the amenities, though the breakfast buffet doesn't start early enough for our departure!

when crossing Nogales, I HIGHLY suggest that you not cross at the main crossing, this dumps you into a mess of traffic and lights. The exit before take the truck route in the USA that takes you west and cross at the truck crossing, if there are semis in a line pass them either side, they will not be upset, as the car crossing spot never has traffic. It will put you on a toll road but it is $$$$ well spent.
And it is the same if returning that way, when close to the border take the Mexican toll road it is not far from the place to return your import sticker, maybe about 10 miles from the border. Again just pass all the trucks on that side too. I have seen several miles of trucks lined up. Just pass them on the left and you will get to the crossing and just keep looking for the car one, there will be no trucks in this line.
and always take the cota toll road option when near the big cities unless you like being in traffic...
I can generally do this leg from the border to make it to take the ferry that night easily. it is 500 miles.

have done the ferry many times. what they can expect is NOT the baja. IE not remote and a divided 4 lane with not one single mountain and not one single Tope, and not one single cow, and not one single sign saying Pelegroso. Hotels all over, services all over, and if you break down not being stranded ever. It is 500 miles from point to point. NOOO stress....
